The Heritage Project

Experience the richness of culture and support the next generation with "HERITAGE - The Journey to Africa," a fundraising initiative dedicated to advancing the education and training of young talents. This exceptional event shines a spotlight on the artistry of emerging dancers and influential choreographers of African and Caribbean heritage.
Your contributions will bolster AkomaAsa's Youth International Social, Cultural Exchange Programme to Africa. In 2024, we embark on our inaugural journey to Senegal, home to the prestigious Ecole des Sables, founded by the renowned Senegalese dancer and choreographer Germaine Acogny.

The fusion of British, African, and African Diaspora dance and music will be a catalyst for cultural exploration. As a Community Interest Company (CIC) we rely on your donations to ensure that CYP are able to access and benefit from the following opportunities:
Sponsorship helps ensure that CYP of all backgrounds receive training from our experienced professional practitioners and ensure that they are given access to a wealth of opportunities to engage in the arts including exercise, creative expression and cultural education.
Options of how you can support our academy are listed below, detailing how your money will be expended.

Will offer one young person a day of training at AkomaAsa Arts Academy. Training includes a combination of the following: classes in various dance forms, singing, Musical Theatre, West African Drumming and performance technique.

Will offer one CYP full AkomaAsa Academy Uniform Includes:
• Academy Group Colour T-shirt – worn in weekly classes to represent group identity
• Academy Hoodie – warm and branded for travel, rehearsals, and outdoor events
• White Performance T-shirt – used for showcases, presentations, and formal appearances
• African Print Pants – vibrant, culturally rooted trousers for dance and movement sessions
• African Print Shorts – breathable and flexible for high-energy classes and summer wear
• Ballet Shoes – essential footwear for technique classes and performance preparation

Will enable one CYP to access training for one term (11 weeks) at AkomaAsa Arts Academy.
Training includes classes in various dance forms, singing, Musical Theatre, West African Drumming and performance technique.

Your Cultural Education gift directly supports children and young people (CYP) to access enriching arts and cultural experiences in the City of London. Donations help cover transport, lunch, exhibition entry, workshop participation, and essential learning resources.

Studies show that 44% of children and young people (CYP) have never been to the theatre — a missed opportunity to engage with one of the most powerful forms of storytelling and cultural expression.
AkomaAsa Arts is committed to changing that. Through our ‘Theatre Experience’ Gift, we aim to give CYP meaningful access to live performance, enriching their study and training in theatre arts. This gift enables a cohort to attend West End and Fringe productions in London, covering the cost of transport and theatre tickets.
Live theatre offers more than entertainment — it sparks imagination, deepens empathy, and helps young people see themselves and others in new ways. For aspiring performers, writers, and creatives, it’s a vital part of their artistic development.

For £300 you will support a first year child or young person that has demonstrated raw and exciting talent with a fully funded place in all classes for a term plus AkomaAsa Arts uniform.

For £500 you will support one of our long term AkomaAsa Arts CYP who has demonstrated tenacity and dedication throughout their training. They will receive a fully funded place in all classes for a term, AkomaAsa Arts uniform plus an industry mentor for a year.
