The Heritage Project

  • Experience the richness of culture and support the next generation with "HERITAGE - The Journey to Africa," a fundraising initiative dedicated to advancing the education and training of young talents. This exceptional event shines a spotlight on the artistry of emerging dancers and influential choreographers of African and Caribbean heritage.

    Your contributions will bolster AkomaAsa's Youth International Social, Cultural Exchange Programme to Africa. In 2024, we embark on our inaugural journey to Senegal, home to the prestigious Ecole des Sables, founded by the renowned Senegalese dancer and choreographer Germaine Acogny.

    By donating, you play a pivotal role in uplifting, empowering, and creatively inspiring young minds. The fusion of British, African, and African Diaspora dance and music will be a catalyst for cultural exploration. This exchange programme is not just a trip; it is a direct investment in the social, cultural, and educational development of the next generation as they traverse various corners of the African continent.

One off donations

As a Community Interest Company (CIC) we rely on your donations to ensure that CYP are able to access and benefit from the following opportunities:

  • Sponsorship helps ensure that CYP of all backgrounds receive training from our experienced professional practitioners and ensure that they are given access to a wealth of opportunities to engage in the arts including exercise, creative expression and cultural education.

  • Options of how you can support our academy are listed below, detailing how your money will be expended.

  • Will offer one young person a day of training at AkomaAsa Arts Academy. Training includes: classes in various dance forms, singing, Musical Theatre, West African Drumming and performance technique.

  • Will offer one CYP with a specialised AkomaAsa Arts Uniform

  • Will enable one CYP to access training for a term (11weeks) at AkomaAsa Arts Academy.

    Training includes classes in various dance forms, singing, Musical Theatre, West African Drumming and performance technique.

  • The Cultural Education gift will go towards a trip for CYP to visit an arts & culture exhibition within the City of London. The gift will cover transport, lunch and entry to the exhibition. Art exhibitions offer CYP a unique opportunity to connect to the World from a global perspective and explore perceptions that give them new inspiration, creativity and enjoyment.

  • Studies show that 44% of CYP have never been to the theatre. AkomaAsa Arts wants to support more CYP to have the opportunity to broaden their horizons and gain access to the inspiring and stimulating experience that theatre offers.

    The ‘Theatre Experience’ Gift gives a cohort the opportunity to see West End and Fringe theatre shows.This gift will cover transport and theatre tickets for a performance in London.

Become A Friend of AkomaAsa Arts

At AkomaAsa Arts, we pride ourselves on being an organisation that holds community at our core and we have many to thank for their support in nurturing our CYP.  Become a friend of AkomaAsa Arts and invest in the continuous growth of our academy.  This can be achieved through monthly donations which will assist CYP in need of financial support and provide training and education within the arts.

  • While we have the pleasure of nurturing the next generation of artists and performers, we acknowledge that it is the collaboration of teachers, parents and patrons who make it possible. If you would like to play a role in supporting our CYP’s journeys, please select an award from the options below:

  • For £300 you will support a first year child or young person that has demonstrated raw and exciting talent with a fully funded place in all classes for a term plus AkomaAsa Arts uniform.

  • For £500 you will support one of our long term AkomaAsa Arts CYP who has demonstrated tenacity and dedication throughout their training. They will receive a fully funded place in all classes for a term, AkomaAsa Arts uniform plus an industry mentor for a year.
